A Quiet Afternoon at the MET
Notes From My Visit
This is truly one of my favorite places on earth, and I’m not exaggerating.
My first visit to the MET was in March 2025, and I was surprised by how deeply I loved it, the scale of the museum, the atmosphere, and the incredible range of art. I even had the chance to see the Caspar David Friedrich exhibition while I was there.
My friend and I spent about six hours walking through every corner, from the Greek & Roman Court, to the beauty of the Baroque galleries and the intimacy of the European period rooms. Each space felt different, yet they all carried the same sense of calm I expected. The calm of antiquity, the quiet strength of Greek sculptures, the softness of old paintings, it was exactly what I needed.
That visit felt like medicine, not only because of my lifelong love for art, but because of the stillness the museum holds. Inside those rooms, time feels locked in place. Everything slows down. My anxiety quiets, my mind settles, and I feel connected to something steady and timeless.
I am not sure these images fully capture that feeling, but they are small pieces of the calm I found there.
